Stop Sending 60MB Decks: Convert for Speed, Not Just Format

Teams often convert files only to satisfy format requirements, not user experience. A deck that technically opens but takes too long on mobile still fails its job in sales and marketing flows.

Start by identifying channel speed expectations. Email attachments need aggressive size control, landing-page assets need progressive loading behavior, and internal archives can remain high fidelity.

Audit heavy assets inside documents: uncompressed images, embedded videos, and redundant slides usually create the biggest weight spikes. Reducing these elements often yields larger gains than applying generic compression alone.

Set file size targets by channel, then convert intentionally. For example, sendable presentation PDFs might target under 8MB, while ad-hoc internal review files can be larger. Clear targets prevent endless back-and-forth.

After conversion, test first-load time under average mobile conditions. Technical size is useful, but perceived speed determines whether users continue reading or abandon.

Speed-oriented conversion improves both engagement and team efficiency. When assets load quickly everywhere, fewer prospects drop off and fewer internal requests ask for “a lighter version” at the last minute.
